Riverlands Christian Church Privacy Policy
RIVERLANDS Christian Church is a part of Australian Christian Churches. It conducts worship services, a pastoral ministry, care and outreach programs and fellowship groups.
This policy has been adopted by Riverlands Christian Church in order to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act No 155 of 2000. The policy should be read together with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) set out in the Privacy Act.
Riverlands Christian Church will comply with the NPPs. If there is an inconsistency between this policy and the NPPs, then the NPPs will prevail.
Riverlands Christian Church will only use personal information for the primary purpose for which it is collected. Individuals will be informed of the purpose for which the information is being collected. These purposes will relate to the spiritual, pastoral, social educational and administrative functions of Riverlands Christian Church to enable the provision of the services and activities included above.
Primarily the church collects personal information for the benefit of its members adherents and clients. Additionally the church has an important function of maintaining personal information for the purpose of analysing the role of the church and the larger Australian Christian Churches network in society and recording family histories of its members. This information may be disclosed to scholars studying the church and to relatives of church members. Riverlands Christian Church will only use personal information about an individual for a secondary purpose if that individual has consented or the use is otherwise permitted by the NPPs. Riverlands Christian Church will take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and will, subject to the NPPs, comply with a request from a person to access, correct or remove their information. Riverlands Christian Church has appointed a Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officer will provide advice on the storage and security of information and the procedures to permit individuals to access and/or correct the personal information collected by Riverlands Christian Church about them. The Privacy Officer will receive and deal with any complaint that Riverlands Christian Church has not complied with this policy or the NPPs.
Personal information collected by Riverlands Christian Church may be sensitive information for the purpose of the NPPs (eg, information about a person's religious beliefs). As a non-profit organisation, Riverlands Christian Church is permitted to collect sensitive information without a person's express consent. However, Riverlands Christian Church will endeavour to seek consent from a person if sensitive information is sought for something other than the primary functions of Riverlands Christian Church described above. Riverlands Christian Church's operating procedures will comply with this policy and the NPPs.

Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Policy
Commitment:
The church recognises its moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy work environment for employees, voluntary workers and visitors and will endeavour to ensure they do nothing to place themselves or the local community at risk of injury or illness.
Objectives:
The church will endeavour to:
Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and standards.
Provide employees, contractors and voluntary workers with information, instruction, training and supervision for their safety.
Provide support that will assist employees and voluntary workers in maintaining their psychological and physical health.
Responsibilities of the church:
To provide a safe workplace.
To implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
To promote actively and be involved in those policies and procedures.
To provide the resources required to meet the church's OH&S commitments.
Responsibilities of employees and voluntary workers:
Follow all OH&S policies and procedures.
Report all hazards identified to the OH&S co-ordinator.
Comply with lawful instructions.
Not behave in a willful and reckless manner.
Consultation:
The church is committed to encouraging consultation and cooperation between church administrators, employees and voluntary workers.
It will involve all parties in workplace changes likely to affect their safety, health and welfare.
